The challenge

Why did you come to Maxme, and how did you hear about its products/programs?

“We first heard about Maxme through Global Victoria, who introduced us to Renata Sguario and the Maxme team.

Our Senior Leader in Operations was tasked with rapidly scaling a support centre for our Australian business. However in our recruitment of new leaders, it became clear that while the technical expertise of these candidates was solid, the critical human skills—those often-overlooked abilities to inspire, communicate, and drive productivity—were not as developed.

Maxme’s approach to human skill development caught our attention due to its highly practical, research-backed approach. Rather than a ‘nice to have’, Maxme places human (‘soft’) skills at the heart of leadership capability building. In this way, human skills are the non-negotiable tools which empower our leaders to connect, understand their strengths, and build high-performing teams.”

What challenges were you seeking to proactively mitigate through this Maxme human skills program?

“Our Senior Operations Leader recognised early on that these new leaders needed to build self-awareness, connect with their own strengths, and develop their ability to lead with impact. She also noticed that as a result of their lesser developed human skills, the productivity and engagement within the teams these leaders were managing was suffering.

We approached Maxme with a key challenge: to empower our rapidly growing team of emerging leaders at the Innovation Centre India with the skills they and their teams needed to thrive.

In partnership with Maxme, we designed a ‘Team Brilliance’ program for our emerging leaders. Team Brilliance focused on equipping these leaders with the self-awareness they not only needed to excel personally, but to elevate the team members they managed. Team Brilliance also covered critical human skills like fostering teamwork, impactful communication and navigating difficult conversations.

For us, this partnership with Maxme was precisely what we needed to bring out the very best in our leaders and their teams in order to drive impactful results.”

How would you describe the human skills proficiency of your people before they started the Maxme program?

“Our emerging leaders in this cohort were skilled and technically proficient, yet they lacked the critical human skills necessary for inspiring and leading others. While each leader had potential, there was a noticeable gap in self-awareness and their ability to connect with, and motivate the colleagues they managed.

Prior to commencing Team Brilliance, these leaders were more task-oriented than team-focused. They struggled with communication, both in delivering impactful messages, and in navigating challenging conversations. This affected productivity and morale across the board.”

The process

Following an in-depth briefing with NAB India, Maxme designed a tailored human skill development program to support NAB’s Innovation Centre’s rapid growth and emerging leadership needs. Understanding the organisation’s goals, we prepared the Team Brilliance program - a 7-week in-person initiative designed to build the core human skills these leaders required to thrive.

All Team Brilliance workshops were delivered face-to-face in India, with weekly check-ins to ensure consistent progress and personalised support for each participant. With a focus on cultivating self-awareness and empowering leaders to connect with and inspire their teams, we designed Team Brilliance with a view to driving productivity and engagement.

Throughout the program, Maxme and NAB India collaborated closely to align on program objectives and ensure seamless integration with NAB’s operational goals. This partnership, along with Maxme’s commitment to responsiveness and iterative learning design, was instrumental in building a strong foundation for NAB India’s new leaders to achieve lasting impact with their teams.
