Unlocking team potential: how MaxInUs helps organisations harness collective strengths

At Maxme, we know that building high-performing teams that have high emotional intelligence isn’t just about having talented and self-aware individuals – it’s about understanding how collective strengths combine to create a winning team.

That’s why we developed MaxInUs, Maxme’s proprietary Team Strengths Tool offering organisational leaders clear, actionable insights into their team’s collective strengths.

So, what exactly is MaxInUs and how does it help your organisation?

Let’s dive in.

What is MaxInUs?

Developed by Maxme, MaxInUs offers leaders a complete picture of the strengths and derailers that exist within their teams. Armed with these insights, leaders are empowered to cultivate and nurture psychologically safe, high performing teams.

With MaxInUs, you can:

  • Identify individual strengths and align them with high-impact activities

  • Develop a shared language for collaboration and inclusion

  • Build trust and rapport by increasing transparency around team dynamics

  • Make informed decisions about team structure, roles, and areas for improvement using real-time insights

  • Monitor progress effortlessly with a user-friendly dashboard that keeps you in the know.

Why did we create MaxInUs?

We all know that collaboration is one of the toughest challenges in today’s workplaces. High-performing teams don’t just happen – they’re built on a deep understanding of each member’s strengths and how these strengths interact.

While traditional tools like Hogan, Myers-Briggs, and DISC offer valuable individual assessments, they often fall short when it comes to revealing how the parts add up to a whole. Without a way to see the sum of the parts, organisations miss opportunities to optimise performance, foster inclusion, and build trust. MaxInUs by Maxme was born out of the need to bridge that gap.

MaxInUs provides a dynamic, data-driven look at your entire team, turning individual insights into a comprehensive view that helps you optimise performance, foster inclusion, and build lasting trust.

How does MaxInUs work?

MaxInUs is simple yet powerful. Each team member begins by completing Maxme’s foundational EQ & Strengths Discovery workshop – a brilliant way to build connection and community amongst the group, which is foundational to building trust and rapport and a fundamental step to high performing teams. The workshop also creates a unique strengths profile for every individual. These profiles are then brought together on a dynamic dashboard to offer a centralised, strengths based view of your organisation; from individual employees to entire teams and functions.

With MaxInUs team strengths insights at your fingertips, you can easily spot recurring strengths, identify gaps, and address collaboration challenges head on. Instead of focusing on what’s missing, MaxInUs shows you how to build on your team’s natural assets while managing potential blind spots.

MaxInUs in action - case study

We recently worked with a small-to-medium enterprise to help them understand their teams more deeply. On viewing their MaxInUs dashboard, the client found eye-opening results. Of the organisation’s seven leaders, none had ‘Teamwork’ in their top 10 strengths – not one! This insight revealed why their decision-making was siloed, with issues funnelling to the CEO rather than tackled collectively. With this self-awareness, they were able to say, “This is true. We don’t show up for each other. We don’t spend a lot of time working on problems together.”

Armed with this new MaxInUs insight, the client had two clear options:

  1. Add a new member to the team with strong teamwork skills to act as the glue.

  2. Establish new team ways of working that intentionally build collaboration and teamwork, even if it wasn’t a natural strength for existing leaders.

The client then applied MaxInUs to its sales team and discovered that while many employees had high Kindness, they were low on Bravery. This insight explained why, despite strong relationship-building skills, their sales struggled with closing deals.

With MaxInUs, the company had the option of either adjusting its hiring strategies in order to recruit more talent with higher Bravery, or invest in targeted upskilling in their existing team to overcome these challenges, e.g. how to have difficult conversations.

Who is MaxInUs for?

That’s the beauty of MaxInUs – it’s not just for leadership. Everyone in the organisation can benefit. By using the tool, teams can better understand each other, work out how they’ll collaborate, and co-create a “social contract” that outlines how they show up, engage in healthy conflict, and hold one another accountable.

Why do team strengths matter now more than ever?

Assembling a group of top talent is not enough to create a high-performing team. In teamwork, the focus is never solely on individuals – it’s about how those individuals come together as a collective.

As John J. Murphy, author of Pulling Together: 10 Rules for High-Performance Teamwork , said: “Each individual has unique gifts, talents and skills. When we bring them to the table and share them for a common purpose, it can give companies a real competitive advantage.”

To achieve this, you need to create an environment where every team member understands their strengths and their team’s strengths, and contributes to the whole.

How does MaxInUs improve teamwork?

Here are some of the most compelling truths and benefits when it comes to heightened team strengths awareness:

  • You can’t build collective inclusion without a window into one another’s strengths. Every team member has something unique to offer, but without insight, those strengths can go unnoticed or untapped.

  • Recognising each other’s strengths through a comprehensive team profile allows you to manage gaps and harness strengths collectively. MaxInUs not only shows you the strengths that are well represented but also highlights where gaps exist, helping you answer the critical “so what, now what?” question.

  • It’s about self-awareness. By understanding your team’s profile, you can cultivate deeper collective emotional intelligence (EQ), ensuring the whole team shows up at its best.  It helps you understand that “wow, of course that’s why the team is showing up this way – because this is our team profile.”

  • Another essential foundation of teamwork is psychological safety. When team members feel free to be themselves, share ideas and voice opinions without fear of judgement, innovation and collaboration truly flourish.

  • To build psychological safety, team members need to understand and value differences. MaxInUs unlocks this transparency, providing a stable foundation on which teams can lean into inclusion. This deep awareness means teams can embrace who they are, be aware of their differences, and harness them to support healthy conflict.

What happens if teams don’t understand their collective strengths?

They risk operating in silos, struggling with collaboration and conflict, and missing out on their full potential – resulting in inefficiencies, missed opportunities, low innovation, and disengagement.

MaxInUs provides the insights and tools you need to transform team dynamics. Whether you’re addressing collaboration gaps, strengthening inclusion, or building psychological safety, MaxInUs helps teams move from good to great.

Why Is It Called MaxInUs?

(“maximise me”), and then unlocking the maximum in the collective, the “Max in Us.”

Once you’ve maximised individual strengths, it’s time to focus on how those strengths can work together to create an unstoppable team.
